Protect Vaccine Choice in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma legislature is considering bills, SB 223, HB 1057, SB 477, SB 352, and SB 350, that prohibits vaccine mandates by a state entity or political subdivision, prohibit requiring any vaccine as a condition of either public or private employment, eliminate current vaccine mandates for college students in Oklahoma, prohibit any state entity or political subdivision from compelling any medical procedure including immunization, use of medical device or wearing of face covering, and establishes that no child will be required to receive a vaccine as a condition of attending public, private, or parochial school, respectively.

We must not lose our freedom to make informed choices about vaccines. Contact your state legislators and tell them to support these important bills.

I understand bills have been introduced, SB 223, HB 1057, SB 477, SB 352, and SB 350, that prohibits vaccine mandates by a state entity or political subdivision, prohibit requiring any vaccine as a condition of either public or private employment, eliminate current vaccine mandates for college students in Oklahoma, prohibit any state entity or political subdivision from compelling any medical procedure including immunization, use of medical device or wearing of face covering, and establishes that no child will be required to receive a vaccine as a condition of attending public, private, or parochial school, respectively.

Parents have a right to make their own decisions about treatments for their children based on informed consent. Limiting a patient's ability to make informed decisions about what gets put into his or her body violates medical ethics.

It is unethical to compel Americans to get a medical procedure, particularly one that has been rushed through approval with unknown safety and effectiveness. The government's record on vaccine safety leaves much to be desired, with over $4 billion of taxpayer money being paid through the Vaccine Court for damages to children from vaccines.

The newly-approved COVID vaccines are not without risk. Severe allergic reactions have been reported at alarming rates; there are also signs of danger for pregnant women. The UK has not recommended that pregnant women receive the vaccine, yet the CDC refuses to follow this basic precautionary step.

It violates medical ethics to mandate a vaccine for which the public has not been given full transparency. Pfizer and Moderna have not made all of the data from their trials available to be independently reviewed, meaning we don't yet know the real risk/benefit of taking the vaccine, making it impossible for patients to decide for themselves what level of risk they are willing to tolerate.

For these reasons, please support SB 223, HB 1057, SB 477, SB 352, and SB 350.
